Spring by Plein Sud

While fashion weeks in fashion capitals all over the world are showing the trends we'll wear this fall and winter, i'm looking forward to spring. If it's gonna look as half as good as the spring by Plein Sud, it's gonna be just beautiful!

We love this Spring-Summer Plein Sud collection!

Cosa Nostra: Juergen and Missoni

The fashion buzz of today seems to be around the new campaign for Missoni, photographed by Juergen Teller. Opposite to expectations (by some), Missonis have kept this one for the family. Feels as if we had been invited to an Italian home with all the cheese, pasta & vino that comes with it. And we like it.

The ads were shot at the family home in Sumirago, Italy, near the company’s headquarters and feature three generations of Missonis mugging for the camera. Not that it was hard to coax any of them to say “formaggio.” “For us home and factory have always been very close,” explains the label’s designer Angela Missoni. “It just felt like the right moment to propose something real.” And an even better time to cut back on modeling fees. Save your kisses for 2010

It's that time of the year again, where you share love and best wishes with people in your life. Today I received a video-card greeting from my friends Uros and Vali. Uros is a fashion designer and creative mind behind Plein Sud, and Vali (Valerija Kelava), well, you have probably seen her in many catwalks this fashion season (Prada, Rodarte, Margiela, Dries Van Noten, Kenzo, Alexander McQueen, Miu Miu, Missoni, Wunderkind, Christopher Kane, Celine, Gaspard Yurkievich, and so many more...).

We just love them, and nothing really beets their greeting card.

Pictures for Photographs, Miles Aldridge

Miles Aldridge is famous for his decadent colour-saturated fashion photography in magazines such as Vogue and Numéro, but the sensual sketches that inform his photographic work are scarcely known.

Book Pictures for Photographs addresses this discrepancy by exploring the delectable relationship between the sketches and photographs. The book opens with the manic drawings with which Aldridge fills sketchbooks in preparation for fashion shoots. Scrawled in pen or pencil, these black-and-white sketches generate ideas for potential photographs and map out series of pictures like a film storyboard. Sometimes dotted with raunchy hand-written notes such as “green/yellow bra” or “painting nipples with lipstick”, Aldridge’s sketches are crucial to his photographs.

The second half of the book presents Aldridge’s photographs, which are often as much about sex as they are about fashion. Here we experience the opulent onslaught for which Aldridge is known: a blonde woman eating lobster and caviar with an exposed breast, an erotic couple in a darkened limousine, a school girl surrounded by her teddy bears, and even crying Madonnas. By setting Aldridge’s monotone drawings and the amplified, Pop-inspired colour of the photographs against each other, Pictures for Photographs offers an as yet unseen insight into Aldridge’s imagination and working processes.

Miles Aldridge will be signing copies of Pictures for Photographs at Colette on the 19th November. The signing will take place between 6-7pm. Colette / 213 RUE SAINT-HONORÉ / 75001 PARIS

Book is published by Steidl and you can buy it online here.

MERCI !

"MERCI" is a concept store as well as a charity shop. Bernand and Marie-France Cohen (the couple behind the luxury children’s clothing brand Bonpoint) now introduce the newest Parisian wonderland. Opened in March 2009, their Marais shop is a 1,500-square-meter designer mecca:
clothes made by "des jeunes créateurs", used books in a "café bouquiniste", home and kitchenware and furniture. The designer corner cradles pieces created especially for the store by the likes of YSL, Stella McCartney, Azzaro, Alexis Mabille and Marni—and cost 30-40 percent less than from its respective name-brand stores.

We rather describe it as an up-market (and dito priced) charity store given the fact they sell vintage items as well as designer items, At merci, you can find flowers, fragrances and jewelry as well, a vintage clothing selection bursting at the seams with Burberry coats, Dior jackets and Chanel quilted bags. Teenage girls and their well-heeled mothers, rejoice!

The "charity" part kicks in at the level of the seller, as all profits go to a fund to help kids in Madagascar and the staff consists of volunteers. An ambitious but beautiful project given the recession we're in.

With its 1500 square meters the store is quite big and organized over three floors. Just the location - a former fabric factory - and the way everything is displayed makes this store worth a visit - and I'm sure once there you'll be able to find something to your taste...

Just know that every euro cent spent will go to a good cause...

merci is located at 111 Boulevard Beaumarchais, 75003 Paris - Métro 8 - Saint-Sébastien-Froissart. You can visit their website here: www.merci-merci.com

VISUAL FASHION

with fashion is not just about the fashion itself. it's also about visual presentation, photographer's eye and the feeling & sensibility you get from the image. for me, "the visual part" is a big part of fashion seduction. here are some of today's fashion photos that cought my attention, seen at T-magazine.

Oktober, Gorenje and Ora-ïto on Russian Fashion Week

If you haven't heard about Slovenia yet, you should start looking out for it. Only 2 mio country, but with 4 NBA players (Mexico with more than 105 mio people has only 1, and Spain the world champion has 5), 5 olympic medals this year, and so many great fashion designers, creative people and such a cool wibe.

My fav Slovenian fashion brand is Oktober. As its name holds some nostalgia and 'revolution', it indeed signifies a real romantic revolution. Together with one of the best home appliances provider, Gorenje, they do some really cool stuff.

Like last year, also this year they were winning over Russian lovers at Russian Fashion Week in Moscow. Gorenje presented theit new collection of home appliances, Gorenje Ora-Ïto White. Their models were wearing white Oktober dresses, so as DJ SHE, one of the most famous Russian DJs.

Comme des Garcons for H&M

The countdown has begun. 8 days to go. And then - NEW YORK CITY here I come!

My to-do, to-see, to-buy list is getting the shape (and length).

Today I added one more necessary stop: H&M. Not just because there you can always find at last some detail or garment which you can use to freshen up your warderobe, but especially because on November 13th they are launching their Comme des Garcon collection. Wow. Love it! The collection is quite impressive. It consists of women’s, men’s and accessories along with perfume. I sure do hope there will be something left when I get there...

I was telling you already about my fascination and admiration for Japanese designers. Among them amazing Rei Kawakubo and her work for Comme des Garcons. Before i was able just to admire her work (admit it, it is way more than just clothes), but with this cooperation with H&M, which make it more accessible and, not the least important, usable, I will be also able to wear them. Yay!

I loved this styling, which appeared in Vogue Japan.
